Jah Wobble and the Nippon Dub Ensemble – Japanese Dub

https://i0.wp.com/ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/4199ofJmngL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Note :

http://www.myspace.com/jahwobble

It starts with high, yelping vocals, a slow, solid beat from the barrel-like taiko drum, and the wail of the hichiriki flute used in Shinto religious ceremonies. Then comes the distinctive
rumbling bass that is the trademark of one of Britain’s maverick veterans. Jah Wobble is off on his musical adventures once again. He may have started out as the backbone of the early Public
Image Ltd, but he has gone on to fuse dub with jazz-rock, English folk and (most recently) far eastern themes, with his bravely original Chinese Dub. Now he has moved on to reinterpret Japanese
styles, using very much the same technique, matching traditional acoustic instruments against his bass, beats keyboards and programming, and doing so with remarkable delicacy. Best of all is his
treatment of traditional pieces such as Kokiriko, in which the sturdy vocals from drummer Joji Hirota are matched against the zither-like koto or banjo-like shamisen, with Wobble’s bass holding
the music together.

Blundetto – Bad Bad Things

https://i0.wp.com/www.wegofunk.com/photo/2184545-3045223.jpg

Note :

http://www.myspace.com/maxfsnmusic

A.M. Architect – The Road To The Sun

https://i2.wp.com/bandcamp.com/files/38/81/3881642025-1.png

Note :

http://www.myspace.com/amarchitect

I could be breaking some unspoken rule of music blogging by posting 2 projects by the same musician so close together. But then again — as you can tell by my recent disappearance from regular
posting — the regular rules have never applied to SK.

A.M. Architect is another project from Diego Chavez (Aether), together with Daniel Stanush, building on a foundation of guitar and keys over smartly produced beats. The most immediate sonic
comparison is clearly The Album Leaf, but the beats here possess more of an edge, ocassionally touching on some propulsive BPMs. The melodic sensibility on their debut LP “The Road to the Sun” is
one of it’s biggest assets with track after track of densely layered ambience. It’s cinematic, sure, but like similar instrumental stuff, the tracks have enough heft and craft to hold up on their
own. Of course, it doesn’t hurt if you’re 100 miles deep into a 400-mile Midwest road trip, lightning lighting up the horizon, the wind starting to rustle the trees lining the road.

Pertego – Hjarta

https://i2.wp.com/www.postrockxchange.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/pertego-hjarta-2009.jpg

Note :

http://www.pertego.it

http://www.myspace.com/pertego

On

Ras Michael and Sons Negus & Dadawah – Nyahbinghi & Peace and Love

https://babylonburnradi0.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/rasmichael.jpg?w=300

Note :

http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ras_Michael_%26_The_Sons_of_Negus

Dadawah and Nyahbinghi are Ras Michael’s first two albums, and together on one CD, they highlight both sides of his sound.  The former blends traditional Rasta drumming with reggae bass
lines, electric guitars, and other modern styles, while the latter contains Rasta drumming and chanting accompanied only by an occasional flute.   Unless you’re a Rasta music purist,
Dadawah will almost certainly appeal to you more than Nyahbinghi.  Although it only contains four tracks, Dadawah is a hauntingly somber, atmospheric work or art whose melodies and music
blend perfectly to draw you in (You may recognize « Zion Land » from  Dennis Brown’s hit « Africa. »).  The melodies on Nyahbinghi, on the other hand, are only interesting in comparison to
the music.  Only « Rise Jah Jah Children » arose any reaction from me, as it utilizes the melody from the doo-wop hit « The Lion Sleeps Tonight. »  The rest of the songs are dull, mournful
chants and/or hymns, each with the same sleep-inducing rhythm.  Why couldn’t Dadawah be 12 tracks and Nyahbinghi  four?

Tetarise – K.a.m.a.

https://i2.wp.com/silent.com.md/label/images/SLNT009.jpg

Note

http://www.myspace.com/tetarise

http://silent.com.md/label/2010/02/08/tetarise-k-a-m-a-slnt009

“We know not what is good until we have lost it.”

Have you ever analyzed the past or asked yourself: “What if…”? Unsaid words, unfinished deeds, hopelessly lost time – all of it is like an echo with a delay fading into compressed and distorted
reverberation. You’d wish to press “hold” and crash the memories into pieces once and for all.

“k.a.m.a. – is an attempt to recreate certain episodes of my past. Various memories come to thought – some are good, some aren’t. They are partial, blurred and fullfilled with the imagination.
That’s why almost half of them are garbled and seem more like a dream rather than reality. Most usual and common episodes become warmer and enlightened, even can cause joy or a smile. Significant
events resemble miracles in the darkness of everyday life.

The first track “Locked Deep Inside” is a preamble. It’s like I’m rummaging the closet, throwing away the rubbish and stumbling upon a music box. Its melody is like something that passed away long
ago. Slowly it grows into something bigger, breaking the borders of past and present, reality and fantasy.”

Wavves – King of the beach

https://i2.wp.com/www.toujoursuncoupdavance.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/wavves_cover.jpg

Note :

http://www.myspace.com/wavves

http://ameblo.jp/rootsoul

A much-needed full length set from Root Soul – aka Kenichi Ikeda – a Japanese artist who’s really been winning our ears with his earlier singles! The groove here is upbeat and soulful – a heavy
influence from the UK scene of recent years, particularly that side that’s more based in classic jazz/funk modes of the 70s! Vanessa Freeman steps out on two great tracks for the set — and other
guests include Andrea Clarke, Lyric L, Leon King, Shea Soul, and Cro-Magnon – but the core grooves are really what win us, and they feature some great jazzy horn parts dropped in alongside the
beats and keyboards – more of a jazz/funk style of instrumentation than the usual Japanese groover.

The Soul Investigators – Fat Slice O’Funk

https://babylonburnradi0.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/thesoulinvestigators-fatsliceo27funk.jpeg?w=300

Note :

http://www.myspace.com/nicolewillisandthesoulinvestigators

The Soul Investigators as it was when they started had known each other for their whole lives, playing together since 1998. Guys were digging the same kind of music, such as James Brown, The
Meters, Booker T. & The MG’s and Mickey and The Soul Generation just to mention few and they decided to make their own music with the same feeling.

The Band had a classic line up when they started: guitar (Pete Toikkanen), bass (Sami Kantelinen), drums (Jukka Sarapaa) and organ (Antti Maattanen). Jukka, Antti and Sami played also in a band
called Mood (later known as Maor Presto) and Pete plays in a garage-rock band called The Paisley. First 45 as Calypso King & The Soul Investigators was made in the year 1998 on Jive and it got
fairly good response so it was followed by another 45 in the year 1999.

In the year 2000 just before « Soul Strike » was recorded (released on Soul FIre records in the year 2001) Soul Investigators hooked up with DJ Didier who’s pretty much into sound engineering and
good funk music as well. He also plays gongas and tambourine on some of their latest releases. Still mainly spending his time in studio.

In the year 2001 Calypso King & The Soul Investigators started to do music for TIMMION Records. It started with two different projects, Ostari Njengi and Soultors. There were four 45’s released
in the year 2001. Latest two of them gives you an idea of what you should be expecting from their stuff in the future.

Just before « Hot Pants On Fire » was released three more members were included in the band. Horn section includes Saxophone (Lasse Tolvanen), Trumpet (Eero Savela) and Trombone (Erno Haukkala).
Style itself hasn’t really changed but their music has gone a step forward lately and not only beacause of the horn section. Lasse played also in Mood with other Soul Investigators, Eero nad Erno
are know maybe best from a band called Soul Captain Band.
